The Ecuadorian tuna sector will end 2025 with ๐ต ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ข๐ง ๐๐ฑ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ฌ, up from USD 1.7 billion in 2024, consolidating its role as a regional processing hub despite remaining under the European Unionโs ๐จ ๐ฒ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ since 2019 for deficiencies in combating IUU fishing.
๐ According to FAO, Ecuador ranks among the top five global exporters of aquatic products, making it crucial for global food security.
๐ฃ ๐๐๐,๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฐ ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐ ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ง๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ, positioning Ecuador as the worldโs second-largest producer and leading exporter of canned tuna.
๐ญ Manta and Posorja plants export 350,000 tons of processed tuna each year โ representing 70% of national exports.
